Running for mums and babies
The Virgin London Marathon is APEC’s biggest fundraising event of the year and ensures that we can continue to offer our support to those affected by pre-eclampsia as well as funding vital training for all who care for pregnant women. This year, the virtual Virgin Money London Marathon gives participants the opportunity to take on the world’s greatest marathon on the course of their choice from 00:00:00 to 23:59:59, wherever they are on the planet.
How can I run for APEC?
Runners in the virtual event will join a record 50,000 participants who will run the traditional Virgin Money London Marathon from Blackheath to The Mall in London. To join Team APEC and run the Virtual London Marathon, you’ll need to complete the application form below. We’re asking our runners to raise a minimum of £400, which will go directly towards supporting women and families affected by pre-eclampsia and HELLP syndrome.
How will APEC support runners?
We will provide fundraising items, training plans and a listening ear. You will receive a gorgeous rainbow theme running vest!
Considering applying for a Virtual London Marathon place on our team in 2021? Here’s what you need to know!
We understand the London Marathon is a huge commitment and ask our UK October 2021 runners to raise £400 by the end of the month following the Marathon. We also require a £30 admin donation* upon your offer of a place. Overseas runners may have different deadlines, please get in touch for information.
*this is non refundable, full terms and conditions are available on request.
The 2019 and 2020 runners funded an awareness campaign. A wallet sized ‘keep me’ booklet will be going out to all pregnant women through the Emma’s Diary* packs, which are given out FREE during pregnancy. Without our London Marathon team, this project would have not been possible. Thank you so much for helping us to:
- Raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of pre-eclampsia
- Tell women and families when and where to seek help and advice
The leaflets will be going out to women in Emma’s Diary* packs from March 2019 – March 2020 *TM
The 2021 Runners will be assisting us in moving our educational resources online, they will finance the implementation of a new online study day and YouTube educational channel for healthcare professionals as well as supplementing core costs due to lost revenue from the COVID-19 pandemic
We provide our wonderful runners with:
- Support via email, telephone and social media, Facebook group
- Personalised running vest and cosy training hoodie for those winter runs
