General fundraising

The donations provided by our supporters are crucial in enabling us to achieve our charitable goals; to raise public and professional awareness of pre-eclampsia, improve care, and ease or prevent physical and emotional suffering caused by the disease. We receive no statutory funding and we are predominantly supported by the kind donations and subscriptions from the public – people like you.

Their are lots of ways that you can support APEC; from taking part in an event, such as running a marathon, to making a one-off donation or by leaving us a gift in your will.

For more information on ways that you can support APEC, please visit our Fundraising pages of our website.

If you’re planning an event to raise funds for APEC, then we’re here to support you every step of the way! You can request one of our free fundraising packs and we can provide you with the resources to make your event a success; from sponsorship forms to t-shirts, balloons and collection pots.

If you’re taking part in an event or challenge, such as a marathon, you can raise your funds via either Enthuse or Justgiving. This way, all valuable will automatically be transferred to us upon the completion of your event. Many organised events will automatically create a fundraising page for you when you register for an event.

If you’re raising a collection, your can transfer this money to us via BACS or by sending us a cheque. For further details, please send us an email on info@apec.org.uk.

The money you raise helps us provide advice and support to those most affected by pre-eclampsia. It also ensures that we’re able to effectively deliver our wider education programme, which includes the publication of FREE resources for both families and health professionals, a series of study days for midwives across the UK, and our online learning environment for midwives and GPs.

Fundraising for events

The London Marathon is APEC’s biggest – and most popular – fundraising event of the year. However, we also promote a wide range of events, including other marathons, half marathons, fun runs and other challenge events.

All of these organised events are managed by our partners at Run for Charity. Simply choose an event that you’d like to take part in, complete the online application form and begin fundraising to make a difference!

The London Marathon is a hugely popular event, and APEC have an allocated number of places each year. If you’re not successful in obtaining your place in a given year, we would encourage you register your interest and join our waiting list.

When registering for an event via our partners at Race for Charity, you will need to pay a registration and booking fee when signing up for an event. This fee will differ from event to event.

For the London Marathon, we require a £100 admin donation upon your offer of a place. This is non refundable deposit and full terms and conditions are available on request.

Every donation counts, and we’re extremely grateful for each and every donation – however large or small.

However, for certain events – such as the Royal Parks Half Marathon or the London Marathon – we do recommend minimum donation targets. This reflects the exclusivity of the event and the demand for places at these flagship annual events.

If you’re planning to take part in an event to raise funds for APEC, then we’re here to support you every step of the way!

Once you’ve registered, we’ll be in touch with you and will provide you with a fundraising pack as well as your own APEC running vest or t-shirt.

No – you don’t have to, although a fundraising page does enable you to promote your event more widely and receive donations online.

Many organised events will automatically create you a fundraising page for you when you register for an event. However, if they don’t, you can create your own fundraising pages using either Enthuse or Justgiving.

We’d love to! Share the details with us, and we’ll do our best to promote your event across our social media channels.

Yes, we’re always grateful for the incredible efforts of our supporters. If you’d like a certificate or recognition for your work, let us know. We’d love to celebrate your achievement with you!

What’s more, if you raise more than £100, we’ll also send you a much coveted APEC hoodie.

We’re a small – yet mighty – team here at APEC, and we’re here to try and support you every step of the way. If you’d like to speak to us about how we can support you on your fundraising journey, then please write to us at info@apec.org.uk.
