In his own words:

On May 24th 1996.My wife Michelle was admitted to Margate Maternity with high blood pressure and protein in the Urine. When I finished work I arrived at the hospital and my wife was 7cm dilated the blood pressure was still high and she was being monitored. After a few hours had past a midwife came and told us things were moving along nicely. I sat with my wife a bit more relaxed until her eyes started rolling and she went into a fit. I left the room panicking looking for help. I was then ushered away and doctors and nurses came from all directions. For what seemed like a lifetime I was kept in the dark but I managed to phone my parents as I was in complete shock. I was then told the hospital staff were doing their best to save mother and baby. Thankfully it was a good ending we had a baby daughter who is 30 next week. But my wife was sedated for 2 days and hemorrhaged which was another scare. But at the time it was something we wasn’t prepared for. My wife had similar symptoms with our next to children but she was closely monitored and the hospital knew the signs with more awareness and thankfully everything went well. But 30 years on we now realise how lucky we was.
