A new film made by Prof Andy Shennan OBE, Dr Alice Beardmore Gray and colleagues, highlights the issues faced by women giving birth in India and Zambia, and the need for better antenatal care. Pre-eclampsia is one of the leading causes of maternal deaths worldwide – in fact there are 46,000 maternal deaths every year, that is one death every 6 minutes.

The CRADLE-4 Trial found that offering planned early birth to women with a pre-eclampsia diagnosis, can prevent mother and baby deaths, in regions of the world where these are still unacceptably high.

This is a compelling short film, produced by Amani Films, that is well worth a watch.
