In her own words:
I had pre eclampsia and HELLP in 2018 following the birth of my son Jack. He was born at 35 weeks by emergency section. After this, I had HELLP and went into kidney failure. I was in the high dependency unit for 5 days before being moved to another ward and discharged after 7 days in total.
I believe I had symptoms of pre eclampsia for a number of weeks prior to my emergency section which weren’t picked up on. I was receiving extra scans because I had notching and was told I was high risk but “not to worry”. Apart from a leaflet given to me I wasn’t told anymore about pre eclampsia. I have went on to have a second child who was delivered safely however I really want to continue raising awareness of pre eclampsia because the results from my first birth could have been so very different if the hospital hadn’t acted as fast as they did.
