In her own words:

Hello my name is Ayanna Pierce I had pre-eclampsia and postpartum pre-eclampsia.

It started off a normal day 36 weeks pregnant. I was working 12 hour shifts. My legs were always swollen and I thought that was normal, one random day I woke up got some cereal and I just had this feeling that something was wrong. I remember not feeling well so I reached out to my doctor.

I tell them that my heart rate was high so they told me to come in and I see the doctor and my blood pressure is 150/100 so they test my urine and they say there’s protein in my urine and that wasn’t there the week prior so they sent me to labor and delivery. But the triage OB at labor and delivery told me nothing was wrong and I should go home and call the office the following day to schedule a induction for 38 weeks so I go home and then the next day we go to Walmart run errands and then I come home that night and I tell my husband I don’t feel well so we check my blood pressure. It’s unbelievably high again, so he checks his to make sure nothing‘s wrong with the machine and his came back normal so we got to leave for labor & delivery again and my blood pressure is high.

There they monitor me and they admit me and I have my baby, but that’s not what was the scariest part I get discharged two days later, the OB says I’m fine to go home but they never sent me home with blood pressure medicine so exactly a week from the day I gave birth I get this feeling of doom and my husband tells me to go back to delivery, so

I go and my blood pressure is now 193/170 and at that point my head is hurting and my arm is tingly. My chest is hurting, that was the scariest thing of my life.

I was put on magnesium drip had a fully catheter put in and I was in postpartum for 48 hours. It was rough scary not knowing what was next.
