Do you want to play your part in supporting one of the UK’s leading baby health charities to achieve its ambitions over the next few years?

We’ve come through Covid in a remarkably strong position with a clear expectation about the next few years. We will continue to  support parents and families through pre-eclampsia, and be their voice in pre-eclampsia research, to educate professionals about the condition and to raise the profile of pre-eclampsia with the public.

We have a small staff team who ensure we punch above our weight and a highly committed, talented and effective board.

We need two new trustees to replace Prof Jimmy Walker who remains our medical director and Prof Cathy Nelson Piercy who is retiring from clinical practice at the end of the year.

We are looking for two exceptional people to join our board as Trustees and as directors of the company.

We are specifically looking for:

An Obstetrician

An Obstetric Physician.

We hope to attract mid-career people who already are well known in their field
APEC is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Candidates will be appointed on experience, merit and their potential to engage with the charity’s agenda. We intend to expand in roles currently under-represented on our Trustee board, to maintain a broad skill mix and balance in gender, geography and ethnicity. We encourage applications from all members of society regardless of disability or background.

We are looking for new Trustees who can combine strategic vision with excellent communication and team-working skills. Trustees should be able to demonstrate independent judgement and be willing to speak out.

Your commitment to us

The Trustee Board meets four times a year, generally during the week between 4pm – 7pm, meetings are at this stage held virtually, in the spring there is an awayday.

As well as attending formal meetings we have an expectation that new Trustees will engage fully in the life of the organisation, attending events mostly in London when they are able.

With these two roles we will expect that you will be prepared to offer ad-hoc clinical advice both to patients and to the CEO when he is preparing work.

Benefits of joining our Trustee board

You will make a difference to the outcomes of families affected by pre-eclampsia.  It’s as simple as that.

We constantly need fresh perspectives, and your vision and commitment will fill you with pride as we do things better.

By becoming a trustee you will inevitably become involved in our national events and perhaps gain a wider perspective.

Trustee roles at APEC are volunteers. Out of pocket expenses are reimbursed.

How to apply:

Applicants are asked to submit one side of A4, expressing your interest in the role and outlining why you want to be a Trustee at APEC as well as a CV demonstrating your relevant experience to Marcus Green by 24 September 2021 at 5pm. Interviews will be held in October and the panel will comprise of Chief Executive David Ellis and existing members of the Trustee board.

In between applying and the interviews, you will be welcome to discuss the role with Prof Andrew Shennan, Chair of the Board of Trustees and Marcus Green, CEO
